As all of us were expecting, this is a B-squad of Indian cricket; it is chosen to give rest to the senior players like Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvi, etc. The national selectors have selected this side keeping in mind the future aspect. They have shown faith in the youngsters who are performing regularly in the Domestic circuit and also players who were not given ample amount of chances to prove their talent earlier.
The Indian selectors were determinant and hopeful for the future when they announced the 16 man squad for the Zimbabwe series. Which had the usual mix of uncapped and second chance players for tours like these, who are ready to test their worth under an experienced commander who can marshal his troops well and who could have been better than India’s greatest ever captains, MS Dhoni?

Faiz Fazal:
The age where your cricketing career peaks, he could be making his debut for the national side. The Stylish left-handed opener from Vidharbha, who was a surprise addition to the squad. His long wait to be painted in Indian colors is over. Fazal’s performance was always under the radar, there was not much to talk about him, even his IPL career is in the dire state after the termination of Rajasthan Royals side from IPL. Ranji season 2015-2016 came as a breakthrough for him, where he was the top scorer for his domestic side, later he helped his cause by scoring 312 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and helped India A clinch the Deodhar Trophy, where he scored a blistering 100. For everyone, according to cricket pandits the turning point for him this season was his inning of 127 in Irani Trophy Final. He played this inning when the Rest Of India had their Backs against the wall and him managed to get his side to a remarkable win.

Jayant Yadav:
The 26-year all-rounder from Haryana slips in the fit for the tour as a spinning all-rounder. Coming from the condition which was unfavorable for spinners, he still manages to scalp 19 victims this season. Whenever given a chance, he has put on a decent performance with the bat scored 298 runs this season. Vijay Hazare was a stepping stone on his way to the team where he took eight wickets in 45 overs from 6 games that he played with an outstanding economy rate of 2.77 and followed it up with eight wickets in the Irani Trophy. His successful domestic season earned him a contract with Delhi Daredevils where he performed with limited chances he got.

Yuzvendrs Chahal:
Being part of the Mumbai Indians for the better part of his IPL career didn’t help his cause and chances to be part of the national team. But since, his arrival in the RED DEVILS of Bangalore in 2014, where he led his team’s bowling line up. With support from Virat Kohli and Daniel Vettori, he is grown in confidence and delivers whenever his team needs. This year was, the best for him as he took his team to the finals and was a standout bowler. He led a rattled bowling attack like a boss, and his selection is a result of his hard work.

Promising top order batsmen from the north who is representing Karnataka in the domestic circuit. He had a great debut season for Karnataka in 2013-2014. Where he scored 500 runs in 6 innings, he played, from there he landed in his backyard Rajasthan for IPL 2014-15. Rahul Dravid’ who was instrumental in roping him into Rajasthan Royals squad and accompanied him in the Delhi Daredevils side for 2016. His season didn’t kick started, but slowly he was able to get into his block and helped his team on several occasion, scored an unbeaten 83 in thriller last-ball win against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mandeep Singh: –
Part of the 2010 U19 squad of 2010, where he was the top run-getter for the Indian team. He joined the domestic circle immediately after his heroics in the world cup. He moved to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) from Kolkata’s knight riders in 2012, IPL-5 was his best season as he was Punjab’s highest run-getter and also won the ‘Rising Star of the Tournament award. 2016 was not so ideal for him as he was a part of a strong batting side and never got a chance to showcase his talent Ranji team. Mandeep was the leading run-getter in the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 394 runs in seven matches.

KL Rahul: –
He is a promising young batsman from Karnataka, who made his first-class debut with his stateside and had a pretty average debut season in 2010-11. Though he was not part of the team next season, Rahul has been in a fantastic mix of fate in his career where he has got opportunities in the most unexpected manners. His century in Australia against Australia that too just in second international outing in the white colors has proved his metal to play against good pace attack

All these young uncapped lads will be under the scanner of the selectors as they are the future of the team. Will these players get a chance to showcase their talent or Players like Ambati Rayudu, Rishi Dhawan, Jaydev Unadkat, Barinder Saran who are getting their second chance will take the limelight away from them against the minions?

I have a simple take towards life, don’t want to make it complicated. I love making friends, chatting, listening to people (cause I feel people have lost the art of listening) and a die hard cricket lover. I am not a party animal but a family person cause friends and family are the best thing in ur life, love experimenting so I have tried everything that comes my way cooking, sports, photography, event management, tele-marketing, content writer, radio host, student producer (I might not be best at all but I have tried all ). If there is so much to learn around why to stop yourselves grab every opportunity that comes your way “mein daudna chahta hu udna chahta hu girna chahta hu bus rukna … nhi bus rukna nhi chahta”
